China - Australia: Partnership in Community Mental Health
2011 - Training and Activities
As part of the Guangdong and Melbourne Mental Health Collaboration, a team of Melbourne experts (Professor Chee Ng; Ms. Margaret Goding; Mr. Bryan Bowditch; Ms. Kate Lheude and Professor Tom Trauer) travelled to Guangdong in August 2011 to run a three-day workshop and training session.
In October, Ms. Margaret Goding and Mr. Graeme Doige, along with Chinese officials, ran the second training program in Balanced Rehabilitation in Beijing. This provided training in evaluation, psychiatric crisis management and family interventions.
In December AAMH was proud to host a delegation from China, consisting of officials and psychiatrists from Hebei Province, Guangdong, Shanghai, Qinghai Province, Peking University, and the Beijing Institute of Mental Health. They visited a number of community mental health sites, as well as receiving various lectures on the Victorian Mental Health system.
