Hong Kong-Australia Collaboration in Mental Health
Hong Kong and Australia have shared a long and important history in collaborating on community mental health development programs, through training and sharing knowledge. Read more about this important relationship below.

National public health providers the Hong Kong Hospital Authority currently manage 41 public hospitals and institutions. The Hospital Authority are focused on being a people-first" organisation, 'Healthy People, Happy Staff, Trusted by the Community'. The Hospital Authority propose to train staff in the development of community-oriented mental health service with close partnerships between other areas of medicine and mental health
A unique collaboration was developed in response to this call for training. A two week program was collaboratively planned by the Hong Kong Hospital Authority, Asia Australia Mental Health and the Department of Psychiatry, Chinese University of Hong Kong. This maximised the tremendous success of the relationship from the previous pioneering initiative of the China - Hong Kong - Melbourne Tripartite Community Mental Health Training Program.
Experienced trainers from St. Vincent's Mental Health travelled to Hong Kong and a wide range of speakers were co-ordinated by Professor CHIU Fung Kum, Helen, Professor of Psychiatry (Clinical) & Chairman, Chinese University, Hong Kong.
