Thailand-Australia Mental Health Memorandum of Understanding
AAMH signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Mental Health Department, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand in Phuket in 2005. The MOU centres on developing a program to support mental health reform in Thailand. The main focus of activity so far has been mental health promotion, issues around depression and community mental health care.
Also in 2005, AAMH hosted a delegation of high level government officals and mental health professionals from Thailand for a one week site visit program of Victoria's community mental health services. The program included visits to both government and non-government community mental health services.
Most recently, Thailand have formed their own 30 member taskforce to participate in the Asia-Pacific Community Mental Health Development Project. They are also planning to publish the first Thai textbook on community mental health.
